SANUS® Announces Partnership with the International Association for Child Safety
(Eden Prairie, MN), April 11th, 2014 – SANUS®, the #1 best selling TV mount brand in the United States, announces a partnership with the International Association for Child Safety (IAFCS), a worldwide network of child safety professionals and babyproofers. SANUS® and IAFCS have teamed up to spread awareness and educate caregivers on the risk of unsecured flat panel TVs tipping in the home in an effort to decrease these preventable accidents from occurring.
Unsecured flat panel TVs can pose a great risk to consumers, specifically to young children. Due to increasing sizes and new ultra thin designs, flat panel TVs can easily tip when bumped or pulled, causing them to topple off furniture, potentially causing injury or even death. The rate of children hurt from TV tip-overs has nearly doubled in two decades. According to a study released in Pediatrics, a journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, more than 17,000 children - one every 30 minutes - are treated in emergency rooms across the country for TV related injuries every year.
With a common mission to increase safety in the home, SANUS® and the IAFCS have joined forces to encourage caregivers to take proper precautions by mounting TVs in the home, and subsequently reverse the trend on this growing issue. By tapping into this network of recognized experts in the field of safety, the goal of this joint venture is to inspire members to connect with families and caregivers in their local communities to help create safe home environments.
